A Legacy of Empowerment and Leadership
Originally founded in 1926 as the Texas Home Demonstration Association, TEEA has played a pivotal role in equipping individuals with homemaking and social skills. In the early years, the association provided scholarships for young women in 4-H tomato clubs, an initiative championed by Edna Westbrook Trigg, Texas’ first Home Demonstration Agent. In 2024, TEEA provided more than $50,000 in scholarships to young men and women members of 4-H.
For the past century, TEEA has empowered communities through education, volunteerism, and financial support for 4-H members at local, district, and state levels. These efforts have fostered leadership development, strengthened communities, and positively impacted countless lives across Texas. During the 2023-2024 program year, TEEA provided over $2.9 million in invaluable in-kind support, including educational programs and volunteer hours, to strengthen Texas A&M AgriLife Extension County programs.
